  1. hnRNP K (show HNRNPK Proteins) and hnRNP L (show HNRNPL Proteins) may serve as A1CF-like cofactors in AID-mediated class switch recombination and somatic hypermutation

  2. The data presented in this report suggested that similar regulatory mechanisms controlling the functional interaction of APOBEC-1 (show APOBEC1 Proteins) with ACF might be operational during enterocyte differentiation.

  3. results suggested both AID and APOBEC-1 (show APOBEC1 Proteins) are equally likely to bind single-stranded DNA or RNA, which has implications for the identification of natural AID targets

  4. ACF plays a crucial role, which is independent of apobec-1 (show APOBEC1 Proteins) expression, in cell survival, particularly during early embryonic development

  1. Data show that the importance of ACF for modulating ApoB (show APOB Proteins) was supported by the finding that RNAi knockdown of ACF reduced ApoB (show APOB Proteins) secretion.

  2. ACF regulates liver regeneration following partial hepatectomy at least in part by controlling the stability of IL-6 (show IL6 Proteins) mRNA

  3. ACF plays a crucial role, which is independent of apobec-1 (show APOBEC1 Proteins) expression, in cell survival, particularly during early embryonic development

A1CF Protein Profile

Protein Summary

Mammalian apolipoprotein B mRNA undergoes site-specific C to U deamination, which is mediated by a multi-component enzyme complex containing a minimal core composed of APOBEC-1 and a complementation factor encoded by this gene. The gene product has three non-identical RNA recognition motifs and belongs to the hnRNP R family of RNA-binding proteins. It has been proposed that this complementation factor functions as an RNA-binding subunit and docks APOBEC-1 to deaminate the upstream cytidine. Studies suggest that the protein may also be involved in other RNA editing or RNA processing events. Several transcript variants encoding a few different isoforms have been found for this gene.
