This is the first report of increased levels of a neurotrophic factor (show NTF3 Antibodies) and of a glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor (show GDNF Antibodies) family member in GAD (show GAD1 Antibodies) patients.
conclude that ARTN is one mediator of acquired resistance to trastuzumab in HER2 (show ERBB2 Antibodies)-positive mammary carcinoma cells
The expression of GFRalpha1 (show GFRA1 Antibodies) and/or GFRalpha3 (show GFRA3 Antibodies), especially when combined with ARTN expression, may be useful predictors of disease progression and outcome in specific subtypes of mammary carcinoma.
ARTEMIN promotes de novo angiogenesis in ER negative mammary carcinoma through activation of TWIST1 (show TWIST1 Antibodies)-VEGF-A (show VEGFA Antibodies) signaling.
ARTN promotion of the cancer stem cell-like cell phenotype was mediated by TWIST1 (show TWIST1 Antibodies) regulation of BCL-2 (show BCL2 Antibodies) expression.
High artemin promotes motility and invasiveness of pancreatic cancer.
artemin lowers the threshold of temperature-dependent itch sensation.
ARTN and TWIST1 (show TWIST1 Antibodies) synergize to produce a worse outcome in ER-MC and combined inhibition of ARTN and phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase/protein kinase B (show AKT1 Antibodies) (PI3K (show PIK3CA Antibodies)/AKT (show AKT1 Antibodies)) may therefore provide a novel therapeutic strategy in this subtype of mammary carcinoma.
Presenting an efficient method for the recombinant bacterial production of large quantities of highly pure, biologically active ARTN for in vitro and in vivo studies.
Studies indicate that artemin was highly expressed in squamous cell carcinoma lung cancer.
RET (show RET Antibodies) coupling to ERK (show EPHB2 Antibodies) and Akt (show AKT1 Antibodies) depends strongly on artemin concentration, and it is highest at the low (~100 pM) artemin levels required for neurite outgrowth.
We found that artemin, the specific GFRalpha3 (show GFRA3 Antibodies) ligand that evokes heat hyperalgesia, robustly sensitized cold responses in a TRPM8 (show TRPM8 Antibodies)-dependent manner in mice.
a role for the glial-derived neurotrophic factor ARTN in mood disorders is suggested.
Increase in levels of artemin and GFRalpha3 (show GFRA3 Antibodies) regulates C-fiber recruitment after axotomy and regeneration.
Artemin-deficient mice revealed abnormalities in the migration and axonal projection pattern of the sympathetic nervous system. Artemin guides sympathetic fibers in following blood vessels as they project toward their final targets.
The level of artemin in the skin modulates gene expression and response properties of afferents that project to the skin and these changes lead to behavioral sensitivity to both hot and cold stimuli.
These results suggest a potential role for artemin-responsive sensory afferents in mediating sensitivity associated with tissue injury
Data report an autocrine/paracrine role of the artemin-GFRA3 (show GFRA3 Antibodies) signaling system in regulating early embryonic development and apoptosis.
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the glial cell line-derived neurotophic factor (GDNF) family of ligands which are a group of ligands within the TGF-beta superfamily of signaling molecules. GDNFs are unique in having neurotrophic properties and have potential use for gene therapy in neurodegenerative disease. Artemin has been shown in culture to support the survival of a number of peripheral neuron populations and at least one population of dopaminergic CNS neurons. Its role in the PNS and CNS is further substantiated by its expression pattern in the proximity of these neurons. This protein is a ligand for the RET receptor and uses GFR-alpha 3 as a coreceptor. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
