Xue, Wang, Cao, Zhu, Tao: Identification of extracellular signal-regulated kinase 1 (ERK1) direct substrates using stable isotope labeled kinase assay-linked phosphoproteomics. in Molecular & cellular proteomics : MCP 2014
Studies indicate some of the functional and mechanistic roles of the binder of Rho GTPases Borg1 (show CDC42EP2 Proteins)-5 proteins (Cdc42EP1 (show CDC42EP1 Proteins)-5), including cytoskeletal remodelling and signalling.
This study showed that CDC42EP4 messenger RNA levels was significantly upregulated in subjects with schizophrenia in laminar and cellular samples.
This study suggests propose that the CDC42EP4/septin (show SEPT6 Proteins)-based glial scaffold facilitates perisynaptic localization of GLAST (show SLC1A3 Proteins) and optimizes the efficiency of glutamate (show GRIN1 Proteins)-buffering and clearance.
The product of this gene is a member of the CDC42-binding protein family. Members of this family interact with Rho family GTPases and regulate the organization of the actin cytoskeleton. This protein has been shown to bind both CDC42 and TC10 GTPases in a GTP-dependent manner. When overexpressed in fibroblasts, this protein was able to induce pseudopodia formation, which suggested a role in inducing actin filament assembly and cell shape control.
