Loss of Function Screening Reveals Carbonic Anhydrase IX as a Key Modulator of Tumor Initiating Potential in Primary Pancreatic Tumors.
constitutive activation of the NF-kappaB (show NFKB1 Antibodies) pathway in CAIX-depleted cells restored G-CSF (show CSF3 Antibodies) secretion
Downregulation of carbonic anhydrase IX promotes Col10a1 (show COL10A1 Antibodies) expression in chondrocytes.
CA IX may directly or indirectly play novel functions in brain tissue.
Data show that CA9, GLUT1 (show SLC2A1 Antibodies) and LOX (show LOX Antibodies) mRNA levels were equally and strongly correlated to hypoxic extent in FaDudd, and the same profile was observed for CA9 and GLUT1 (show SLC2A1 Antibodies), but not LOX (show LOX Antibodies), in SCCVII tumors.
a novel role for CA IX in the regulation of immunologic processes and digestion
although CA IX-deficiency is not a tumor-promoting factor per se, it induces glandular atrophy in the body mucosa, a lesion which is considered to be a preneoplastic alteration in the stomach
These results suggest that the loss of function of cytosolic CA II (show CA2 Antibodies) in the stomach of Car2 (show CA2 Antibodies)-/- mice leads to up-regulation of an extracellular CA, namely CA IX, which is expressed on the cell surface of the gastric epithelium.
CA9 may regulate ion and pH homeostasis within the developing embryo.
CA9 has chaperone-like functions and CA9 shed from tumors may play a direct role in stimulating an adaptive immune response
The results suggest the possibility that CA9 exosomes released from hypoxic RCC (show XRCC1 Antibodies) may enhance angiogenesis in microenvironment, thereby contributing to cancer progression.
CA9 expression is highly associated with distant metastases, including para-aortic involvement.
Increased miR (show MLXIP Antibodies)-210 and concomitant decreased ISCU (show ISCU Antibodies) RNA levels were found in ~40% of tumors and this was significantly associated with HIF-1alpha (show HIF1A Antibodies) and CAIX, but not MCT1 (show CMA1 Antibodies) or MCT4 (show SLC16A4 Antibodies), over-expression.
describe the identification of the structural determinants responsible for the CA IX/CAND1 (show CAND1 Antibodies) interaction
Data suggest that CAIX (carbonic anhydrase IX) is a novel downstream mediator of asTF (alternatively spliced tissue factor (show F3 Antibodies)) in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, particularly under hypoxic conditions that model late-stage tumor microenvironment; tumor hypoxia appears to lead to up-regulation of CAIX expression (or 'activation'), which is more pronounced in tumor cells overexpressing asTF.
Our findings suggest that LCN2 (show LCN2 Antibodies) suppresses tumour metastasis by targeting the transcriptional and post-transcriptional regulation of CAIX in oral squamous cell carcinoma
CA II (show CA2 Antibodies) and CA XII, but not CA VII (show CA7 Antibodies) or CA IX, could be useful in predicting survival in colorectal carcinomas
The findings suggest that CA9, and particularly its carbonic anhydrase activity, promotes the tumorigenicity of adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma-derived cells and may be involved in malignant development of lymphoma-type adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma.
We demonstrated that the expression levels of glycolysis-related proteins glucose transporter 1 (show SLC2A1 Antibodies), hexokinase II, carbonic anhydrase IX, and monocarbonylate transporter 4 differ between thyroid cancer subtypes and are correlated with poorer prognosis
CAIX and PTEN (show PTEN Antibodies) had prognostic importance for metastatic renal cell carcinoma (show MOK Antibodies) patients receiving first-line VEGFR (show KDR Antibodies) TKI. Future validation and mechanistic studies are required.
Carbonic anhydrases (CAs) are a large family of zinc metalloenzymes that catalyze the reversible hydration of carbon dioxide. They participate in a variety of biological processes, including respiration, calcification, acid-base balance, bone resorption, and the formation of aqueous humor, cerebrospinal fluid, saliva, and gastric acid. They show extensive diversity in tissue distribution and in their subcellular localization. CA IX is a transmembrane protein and the only tumor-associated carbonic anhydrase isoenzyme known. It is expressed in all clear-cell renal cell carcinoma, but is not detected in normal kidney or most other normal tissues. It may be involved in cell proliferation and transformation. This gene was mapped to 17q21.2 by fluorescence in situ hybridization, however, radiation hybrid mapping localized it to 9p13-p12.
