Cbp/p300-Interacting Transactivator, with Glu/Asp-Rich Carboxy-terminal Domain, 4 Proteins (CITED4)

The protein encoded by this intronless gene belongs to the CITED family of transcriptional coactivators that bind to several proteins, including CREB-binding protein (CBP) and p300, via a conserved 32 aa C-terminal motif, and regulate gene transcription. Additionally we are shipping CITED4 Kits (37) and CITED4 Antibodies (35) and many more products for this protein.

  1. Data (including data from knockout mice) suggest Cited4 and CBP/Crebbp (show CREBBP Proteins) are required for LH (luteinizing hormone) and MAP kinase (show MAPK1 Proteins) signaling to trigger ovulation via regulation of gene expression and histone acetylation in pre-ovulatory follicles.

  1. Upregulation of CITED4 is associated with colorectal cancer.

  2. Demethylation and histone modification can potentially reactivate CITED4 gene expression in some breast cancers and lead to changes in tumour behaviour.

  3. CITED4 functions as a transactivator when artificially targeted to a promoter element. CITED4 physically interacts with all TFAP2 (show TFAP2A Proteins) isoforms in vitro and strongly co-activates all TFAP2 (show TFAP2A Proteins) isoforms in Hep3B cells.

  4. Results show that breast cancer development is characterized by either nuclear loss or cytoplasmic translocation of CITED4, with consequent loss of hypoxia-inducible factor-1alpha transcriptional antagonist activity.

  5. The interaction and functional cooperation between FHL2 (show FHL2 Proteins), CITED4, and CTNNB were studied.

  6. CITED4 is epigenetically silenced in the vast majority of oligodendroglial tumours with 1p and 19q deletions.

  7. mutational study of CITED4 in 24 glial tumors (22 primary glioblastomas, 1 low-grade astrocytoma & its recurrent secondary glioblastoma)

CITED4 Protein Profile

Protein Summary

The protein encoded by this intronless gene belongs to the CITED family of transcriptional coactivators that bind to several proteins, including CREB-binding protein (CBP) and p300, via a conserved 32 aa C-terminal motif, and regulate gene transcription. This protein also interacts with transcription factor AP2 (TFAP2), and thus may function as a co-activator for TFAP2. Hypermethylation and transcriptional downregulation of this gene has been observed in oligodendroglial tumors with deletions of chromosomal arms 1p and 19q, and associated with longer recurrence-free and overall survival of patients with oligodendroglial tumors.
