The transiently active CDK5 (show CDK5 Antibodies)-p35 complexes limited the LPS (show TLR4 Antibodies)-stimulated phosphorylation and activation of various mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs), thereby preventing the premature production of SOCS3 (suppressor of cytokine signaling 3 (show SOCS3 Antibodies))
Cdk5 (cyclin-dependent kinase 5 (show CDK5 Antibodies)) requires p35 regulatory subunit (Cdk5r1) for activation; data suggest Cdk5r1 stability regulates Cdk5 (show CDK5 Antibodies) activity in neurons; Cdk5r1 is rapidly degraded by 2 proteasome methods, ubiquitination-dependent and -independent.
These data suggest p35 and p39 (show ATP6V0D1 Antibodies) have specific and overlapping roles in oligodendrocyte development, some of which may be independent of Cdk5 (show CDK5 Antibodies) activation.

This report shows that herpes simplex virus 1 increases p35 levels, changes the primary localization of CDK-5 (show CDK5 Antibodies) from the nucleus to the cytoplasm, and enhances CDK-5 (show CDK5 Antibodies) activity during lytic or acute infection.
the effects of p25, although normally attributed to activate CDK5 (show CDK5 Antibodies), may be mediated in part by elevated GSK3beta (show GSK3b Antibodies) activity.
Data suggest that up-regulation of S100A8 (show S100A8 Antibodies) and S100A9 (show S100A9 Antibodies) is a key component of early endometrial response to uterine involution in the post-partum period and to prevent chronic endometritis/uterine inflammation; up-regulation can be influenced by diet.
The protein encoded by this gene (p35) is a neuron-specific activator of cyclin-dependent kinase 5 (CDK5)\; the activation of CDK5 is required for proper development of the central nervous system. The p35 form of this protein is proteolytically cleaved by calpain, generating a p25 form. The cleavage of p35 into p25 results in relocalization of the protein from the cell periphery to nuclear and perinuclear regions. P25 deregulates CDK5 activity by prolonging its activation and changing its cellular location. The p25 form accumulates in the brain neurons of patients with Alzheimer's disease. This accumulation correlates with an increase in CDK5 kinase activity, and may lead to aberrantly phosphorylated forms of the microtubule-associated protein tau, which contributes to Alzheimer's disease.
