interactions of human family 1 & 2 cystatins with cathepsin L1 (show CTSL1 Antibodies)
This data suggests an autoimmune mechanism behind chronic mucocutaneous candidiasis in autoimmune polyendocrine syndrome type I and provides rationale for evaluating cystatin (show CST3 Antibodies) SA1 (show STAG1 Antibodies) in antifungal therapy.
Identification of cystatin SA as a novel inhibitor of acid ceramidase (show ASAH1 Antibodies).
cystatins SA1 (show STAG1 Antibodies) and SA2 (show STAG2 Antibodies) adhere to human fibroblasts and that the event results in tyrosine phosphorylation and upregulation of the release of IL-6 (show IL6 Antibodies) mediated enhancement of NF-kappa B (show NFKB1 Antibodies) activity.
Murine monoclonal antibodies were made which can distinguish between CST1 (show CST1 Antibodies) and CST2.
The cystatin superfamily encompasses proteins that contain multiple cystatin-like sequences. Some of the members are active cysteine protease inhibitors, while others have lost or perhaps never acquired this inhibitory activity. There are three inhibitory families in the superfamily, including the type 1 cystatins (stefins), type 2 cystatins and the kininogens. The type 2 cystatin proteins are a class of cysteine proteinase inhibitors found in a variety of human fluids and secretions, where they appear to provide protective functions. The cystatin locus on chromosome 20 contains the majority of the type 2 cystatin genes and pseudogenes. This gene is located in the cystatin locus and encodes a secreted thiol protease inhibitor found at high levels in saliva, tears and seminal plasma.
