  1. Elk-3 contributes to the progression of liver fibrosis by modulating the epithelial-mesenchymal transition via the regulation of Egr-1 under MAPK signaling.

  2. Elk3 has distinct roles in maintaining retinal artery integrity.

  3. coexpression of KLF4 (show KLF4 Proteins) led to repression of Elk-3 promoter activity

  4. ELK3 suppresses PAI-1 (show SERPINE1 Proteins) expression and accumulates in the nucleus at high cell density.

  5. Data show that Elk-1 and Net do not contribute significantly to thymocyte development in the presence of SAP-1.

  6. Elk-3 is a strong repressor of NOS2 promoter activity and mRNA levels, and endogenous expression of Elk-3 inversely correlates with NOS2

  7. CTP:phosphocholine cytidylyltransferase (CT) messenger RNA(mRNA) increased at S-M phase corresponding to an increase of Ets-1 (show ETS1 Proteins) protein mRNA and decrease of Net protein mRNA indicating that Net is an important endogenous repressor for CTalpha (show PCYT1A Proteins) transcription

  8. Net is a negative regulator of PAI-1 (show SERPINE1 Proteins) expression and is thereby involved in cell migration.

  9. Elk-3 serves as an important repressor of heme oxygenase 1 (HO-1 (show HMOX1 Proteins)) gene transcription and contributes to the tight control of HO-1 (show HMOX1 Proteins) gene regulation in the setting of inflammatory stimuli

  10. the Ras-Net (Elk-3) pathway involves microtubules and is inhibited by pyrazoles

  1. The expression levels of Elk-3 in liver cirrhosis tissues were significantly higher than those in chronic hepatitis tissues.

  2. We revealed that activation of the PI3K (show PIK3CA Proteins)/Akt (show AKT1 Proteins) pathway was the main cause of impaired autophagy in ELK3 KD. Our results suggest that targeting ELK3 may be a potential approach to overcome doxorubicin resistance in breast cancer therapeutics.

  3. Taken together, we suggest that ELK3 is an upstream regulator of the NF-kappaB (show NFKB1 Proteins) signaling pathway, the inhibition of which leads to the suppression of peritumoral lymphatic vessel development, possibly due to a low VEGFC (show VEGFC Proteins) expression.

  4. High expression of ELK3 is associated with migration and invasion of liver cancer stem cells.

  5. results suggest that ELK3 plays a positive role in the metastasis of BC cells by indirectly regulating MT1-MMP (show MMP14 Proteins) expression

  6. The oncogenic MicroRNA Hsa (show CD24 Proteins)-miR (show MLXIP Proteins)-155-5p targets the transcription factor ELK3 and links it to the hypoxia response.

  7. ELK3 plays a negative role of VEGF (show VEGFA Proteins)-induced angiogenesis through indirectly inhibiting ETS-1 (show ETS1 Proteins) function.

  8. Net and HIF1alpha (show HIF1A Proteins) are components of distinct signaling pathways that are intricately linked

  9. the Ras-Net (Elk-3) pathway involves microtubules and is inhibited by pyrazoles

  10. These findings suggested that loss of Net repression could augment c-fos expression and further trigger neoplastic cell proliferation, which was involved in the pathogenesis of pancreatic cancer.

ELK3, ETS-Domain Protein (SRF Accessory Protein 2) (ELK3) Protein Profile

Protein Summary

The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the ETS-domain transcription factor family and the ternary complex factor (TCF) subfamily. Proteins in this subfamily regulate transcription when recruited by serum response factor to bind to serum response elements. This protein is activated by signal-induced phosphorylation\; studies in rodents suggest that it is a transcriptional inhibitor in the absence of Ras, but activates transcription when Ras is present.
