Human Glucosaminyl (N-Acetyl) Transferase 1, Core 2 (GCNT1) interaction partners

  1. GCNT1 expression in prostate biopsy specimen is a significant and independent predictor of recurrence after radical prostatectomy, which can be used in pre-treatment decision making for the patient.

  2. GCNT1 expression in prostate cancer positively correlates with cancer progression and prostate-specific antigen (show KLK3 Proteins) recurrence.

  3. Results show that ST3Gal1 (show ST3GAL1 Proteins) uses GM130 (show GOLGA2 Proteins)-GRASP65 (show GORASP1 Proteins) and giantin, whereas C2GnT-L uses only giantin for Golgi targeting and defective giantin dimerization in PC-3 (show PCSK1 Proteins) and DU145 prostate cancer cells causes fragmentation of the Golgi and prevents its targeting.

  4. NMIIA is the master regulator of Golgi fragmentation induced by heat shock or inhibition/depletion of HSP70 (show HSP70 Proteins)/90 through interaction with gylosyltransferases.

  5. GCNT1 is over-expressed in prostate cancer and is associated with higher levels of core 2 O-sLe(x) in PSA (show PLAG1 Proteins), PAP (show REG3A Proteins) and MUC1 (show MUC1 Proteins) proteins.

  6. Immunohistochemical expression of core 2 beta1,6-N-acetylglucosaminyl transferase 1 (C2GnT1) in endometrioid-type endometrial carcinoma may be a novel potential prognostic factor.

  7. C2GnT-expressing prostate cancer cells evade NK cell immunity and survive longer in the host blood circulation, thereby resulting in the promotion of prostate cancer metastasis.

  8. GOLPH3 (show GOLPH3 Proteins) can regulate cell-cell interaction by controlling Golgi retention of C2GnT1.

  9. Down-regulation of C2GnT1 is correlated with breast cancer

  10. The X-ray crystal structure (2.3 A resolution) of a mutant form of C2GnT-L (C217S) in complex with UDP was solved. C2GnT-L exists in an "open" conformation and a "closed" conformation.

  1. simultaneous deletion of the Core2 beta1,6-N-acetylglucosaminyltransferase (C2GnT) enzymes C2GnT1 and C2Gnt2 (show GCNT3 Proteins) resulted in delayed expulsion of worms.

  2. striking differences between the requirement of FucT-VII (show FUT7 Proteins) and C2GlcNAcT-I for Ligands for E-selectin (show SELE Proteins) and P-selectin (show SELP Proteins) expression in CD4 (show CD4 Proteins)+ T cells.

  3. Core2 O-glycan structure is essential for expression of SI and DDP (show TIMM8A Proteins)-IV during intestinal cell differentiation.

  4. Distinct functions for C2GlcNAcT-I in the differential elaboration of endothelial venule glycoproteins that set a threshold for the amount of L-selectin (show SELL Proteins) needed for lymphocyte homing.

  5. data demonstrate that multiple C2GlcNAcT enzymes can contribute to P-selectin (show SELP Proteins) ligand formation and may cooperate with C2GlcNAcT-I in the control of CD8 (show CD8A Proteins) T cell trafficking

  6. IGnT deficient mice had reduced spontaneous locomotive activity, and the number of peripheral blood lymphocytes was also reduced and renal function decreased in the deficient mice

  7. Data report the x-ray crystal structures of murine core 2 O-glycan (Galbeta1-3[GlcNAcbeta1-6]GalNAc-O-Ser (show SIGLEC1 Proteins)/Thr (show TRH Proteins)) (C2GnT-L) in the absence and presence of the acceptor substrate Galbeta1-3GalNAc at 2.0 and 2.7A resolution, respectively.

  8. These results suggest that the core 2 GlcNAc extended glycan chains on megalin (show LRP2 Proteins) can change the ligand-binding affinity and capacity.

  9. Pancreas carcinoma antigen, C2GnT, fused to invariant chain elicits T-cell response and tumor growth inhibition.

  10. Core2 1-6-N-glucosaminyltransferase-I is crucial for the formation of atherosclerotic lesions in apolipoprotein E (show APOE Proteins)-deficient mice.

GCNT1 Protein Profile

Protein Summary

This gene is a member of the beta-1,6-N-acetylglucosaminyltransferase gene family. It is essential to the formation of Gal beta 1-3(GlcNAc beta 1-6)GalNAc structures and the core 2 O-glycan branch. The gene coding this enzyme was originally mapped to 9q21, but was later localized to 9q13. Multiple alternatively spliced variants, encoding the same protein, have been identified.
