Human Prohibitin (PHB) interaction partners

  1. We propose a model whereby in analogy to previous findings (e.g., the RAS-RAF (show RAF1 Proteins) signalling pathway), PHB can act as a signalling scaffold protein (show HOMER1 Proteins) to assist in KDELR-dependent Src (show SRC Proteins) activation

  2. a majority of patients with IgG4-related disease have antibodies against prohibitin.

  3. PHB phosphorylated at threonine 258 and MIG-7 may play complementary roles in the initiation and sustainment of the effects of growth factors and COX-2/PGE2 on cancer invasion/metastasis.

  4. miR (show MLXIP Proteins)-27a was shown to be a significant tumor suppressor by targeting and decreasing PHB protein expression in glioma U251 cells. miR (show MLXIP Proteins)-27a targeting of PHB may be a novel potential therapeutic strategy for glioma

  5. Less expression of prohibitin is associated with increased paired box 2 (show PAX2 Proteins) in renal interstitial fibrosis

  6. A protective role of PHB that is dependent on pS727-Stat3 (show STAT3 Proteins) to prevent mitochondrial dysfunction in intestinal epithelial cells.

  7. Knockdown of prohibitin expression promotes glucose metabolism in eutopic endometrial stromal cells from women with endometriosis.

  8. we have provided a modified method for isolating and identifying membrane proteins and demonstrated that PHB1 may be a promising biomarker for early diagnosis and therapy of pancreatic (and potentially other) cancers.

  9. PHB lies downstream of ERalpha (show ESR1 Proteins) and mediates estrogen-dependent Paclitaxel resistance signaling cascades

  10. The study suggest that the tumor suppressing action of prohibitin is probably associated with luteinizing hormone mediated protection role against ovarian epithelial carcinoma.

  1. Study shows that PHB is highly expressed in white adipose tissue and liver which expression is regulated by estrogen.

  2. This study identifies a novel signaling pathway composed of miR (show MLXIP Proteins)-361 and PHB1 that regulates mitochondrial fission program and apoptosis.

  3. Both c-Myc (show MYC Proteins) and PHB1 directly interact with Nrf2 (show NFE2L2 Proteins) but c-Myc (show MYC Proteins) lowers Nrf2 (show NFE2L2 Proteins) binding to antioxidant response elemens while PHB1 enhances it.

  5. Data indicate that phosphorylation of Tyr114 and Tyr259 of prohibitin (PHB) is critical for the association of PHB with FcRI (show FCGR1A Proteins) and Syk (show SYK Proteins).

  6. maintaining expression of intestinal epithelial cell prohibitin reduces the severity of inflammation and increases colonic levels of the antioxidants HO-1 (show HMOX1 Proteins) and NQO-1 (show NQO1 Proteins) via a mechanism independent of Nfe2 (show NFE2 Proteins)

  7. Phb1/2 and the CD86 (show CD86 Proteins) cytoplasmic domain cooperate to mediate CD86 (show CD86 Proteins) signaling in a B cell through differential phosphorylation of distal signaling intermediates required to increase IgG1.

  8. Findings suggest that PHB protects against colitis-associated cancer by modulating p53 (show TP53 Proteins)- and STAT3 (show STAT3 Proteins)-mediated apoptosis.

Prohibitin (PHB) Protein Profile

Protein Summary

Prohibitin is an evolutionarily conserved gene that is ubiquitously expressed. It is thought to be a negative regulator of cell proliferation and may be a tumor suppressor. Mutations in PHB have been linked to sporadic breast cancer. Prohibitin is expressed as two transcripts with varying lengths of 3' untranslated region. The longer transcript is present at higher levels in proliferating tissues and cells, suggesting that this longer 3' untranslated region may function as a trans-acting regulatory RNA.
