  1. These data reveal a previously unknown functional heterogeneity in the interaction between Plasmodium falciparum PfEMP1 CIDRalpha1domain binding to EPCR and have major implications for understanding the distinct clinical pathologies of cerebral malaria.

  2. Overall, these findings reveal a much greater complexity of how Plasmodium falciparum PfEMP1 CIDRalpha1 domain-expressing parasites may modulate malaria pathogenesis through EPCR adhesion.

  3. In this Tanzanian population, neither PROCR haplotype nor level of soluble EPCR was associated with severe malaria.

  4. Serum soluble EPCR is elevated in Alzheimer's disease. The degree of cognitive impairment is significantly correlated with serum sEPCR levels in Alzheimer's disease and mild cognitive impairment patients and healthy controls.

  5. Report activation of protein C and down-regulation of EPCR in trophobolasts stimulated with TNF-alpha (show TNF Proteins).

  6. This effect of EPCR may be dependent on PAR1 (show MARK2 Proteins).

  7. results did not conclusively identify a direct role of sEPCR in HSP, but our findings warrant further investigations, especially in severe HSP cases characterized by gastrointestinal bleeding or renal involvement

  8. The degree of arteriovenous fistula stenosis was not correlated with serum EPCR

  9. results demonstrate that EPCR is overexpressed and mediates the aggressive behavior of rheumatoid synovial fibroblasts, and is likely driven by group V secretory phospholipase A2 (show YWHAZ Proteins)

  10. Individuals exposed to high levels of Plasmodium falciparum PfEMP1 acquire antibodies to EPCR-binding CIDR domains early in life.

  1. Thrombin (show F2 Proteins)-PAR1 (show F2R Proteins) signaling, via nitric oxide and EPCR, promotes hematopoietic stem cell (HSC (show FUT1 Proteins)) mobilization. aPC (show APC Proteins)-EPCR-PAR1 (show F2R Proteins) signaling promotes HSC (show FUT1 Proteins) retention in bone marrow.

  2. impaired EPCR/protein C (show PROC Proteins)-binding interactions not only result in procoagulant and proinflammatory effects, but also impact hematopoiesis

  3. sPLA2 (show PLA2G2A Proteins)-V plays a thrombogenic role by impairing the ability of EPCR to promote protein C (show PROC Proteins) activation.

  4. HSCs appear to maintain expression of CD201 after hematopoietic injury when Kit expression is downregulated.

  5. The protein C (show PROC Proteins) receptor (ProcR; EPCR) was required for the normal in vivo and in vitro induction of lipopolysaccharide (LPS (show TLR4 Proteins))-regulated gene expression.

  6. Data indicate that endothelial protein C receptor (EPCR) binding enhances FVIIa hemostatic activity in vivo.

  7. protein C (show PROC Proteins) receptor (Procr), a novel Wnt (show WNT2 Proteins) target in the mammary gland, marks a unique population of multipotent mouse mammary stem cells

  8. FVIIa binding to EPCR leads to a barrier protective effect in vivo

  9. Piperlonguminine might have potential as an anti-sEPCR shedding reagent against sepsis-mediated EPCR shedding.

  10. FVIIa binding to EPCR on the endothelium facilitates the transport of FVIIa from circulation to extravascular tissues where TF resides

PROCR Protein Profile

Protein Summary

The protein encoded by this gene is a receptor for activated protein C, a serine protease activated by and involved in the blood coagulation pathway. The encoded protein is an N-glycosylated type I membrane protein that enhances the activation of protein C. Mutations in this gene have been associated with venous thromboembolism and myocardial infarction, as well as with late fetal loss during pregnancy.
