TR4 (show NR2C2 Antibodies)-mediated enhancement of fatty acid synthesis in adipocytes requires increased expression of PC gene
Repression of pyruvate carboxylase could be interpreted as a survival tactic of repressing anabolic pathways to support a redirection of limited carbon units to catabolism rather than storage
Three GC boxes within the proximal promoter of the murine pyruvate carboxylase gene bind Sp1 (show SP1 Antibodies)/Sp3 (show SP3 Antibodies)
CREB (show CREB1 Antibodies) bind to -1639/-1631 cyclic AMP (show TMPRSS5 Antibodies) responsive element of mouse PC gene in vitro and in vivo, respectively.
PPARgamma (show PPARG Antibodies) binds to the functional PPAR (show PPARA Antibodies)-response element of the PC promoter. Impaired in vitro differentiation of white adipocytes of PPARgamma2 (show PPARG Antibodies) knock-out mice was also associated with a marked reduction of PC mRNA
Focuses on cloning of human pyruvate carboxylase but also studies pyruvate carboxylase levels in mouse preadipocyte differentiation.
Genomic structure of the pyruvate carboxylase gene is determined. The transcripts are highly expressed in kidney and liver, moderately expressed in heart and testis, and expressed at a low level in spleen.
Pyruvate carboxylase activates the RIG-I (show DDX58 Antibodies)-like receptor-mediated antiviral immune response by targeting the MAVS (show MAVS Antibodies) signalosome.
PC and PDH (show PDP Antibodies) may be an important part of cellular adaptation to the IDH1 (show IDH1 Antibodies) mutation and may serve as potential therapeutic targets
Eight novel mutations were identified in PC from 8 pyruvate carboxylase deficiency patients.
The activities of pyruvate carboxylase (PC) were decreased by 65% in pancreatic islets of patients with type 2 diabetes.
These data indicate that pyruvate carboxylase promoter 1 is activated by fatty acids found in serum of feed-restricted cows.
Expression of pyruvate carboxylase mRNA is part of the adaptive response to feed intake restriction
This gene encodes pyruvate carboxylase, which requires biotin and ATP to catalyse the carboxylation of pyruvate to oxaloacetate. The active enzyme is a homotetramer arranged in a tetrahedron which is located exclusively in the mitochondrial matrix. Pyruvate carboxylase is involved in gluconeogenesis, lipogenesis, insulin secretion and synthesis of the neurotransmitter glutamate. Mutations in this gene have been associated with pyruvate carboxylase deficiency. Alternatively spliced transcript variants with different 5' UTRs, but encoding the same protein, have been found for this gene.
