Zfp69 is the most likely candidate for the diabetogenic effect of Nidd (show ZDHHC23 Antibodies)/SJL locus.
Zfp69 mediates hyperlipidaemia, liver fat accumulation and mild insulin (show INS Antibodies) resistance. However, it does not induce type 2 diabetes, suggesting that the diabetogenic effect of the Zfp69 locus requires synergy with other as yet unidentified genes.
Zfp69 mRNA-expression was significantly higher in diabetic subjects than in unaffected controls.
