Zhang, Gong, Young: ZNF185, an actin-cytoskeleton-associated growth inhibitory LIM protein in prostate cancer. in Oncogene 2007
ZNF185 is the most abundant in the testes and is located in Leydig cells and sperm. Leydig cells has weak expression and in round spermatids and mature sperm it is highly expressed.
These data offered evidence for the association of mouse Zfp185 with F-actin, which supports the potential role of Zfp185 in cell fundamental activity.
ZNF185 was mainly distributed in the cytoplasm of Leydig cells and Sertoli cells, as well as the head and tail of sperm cells.
ZNF185 expression was significantly downregulated in lung adenocarcinoma tissues compared with the adjacent non-cancerous tissues and negatively correlated with lymphatic metastasis. ZNF185 overexpression inhibits the growth and invasion of LAC (show LCT Antibodies) cells through inhibition of the AKT (show AKT1 Antibodies)/GSK3beta (show GSK3b Antibodies) signaling.
Transcriptional silencing of ZNF185 by methylation in prostate tumor tissues implicates the ZNF185 gene in prostate tumorigenesis.
transcriptional activation of ZNF185 and CYP3A4 (show CYP3A4 Antibodies) is mediated by direct association of BRG1 (show SMARCA4 Antibodies) with their promoters and a decreased level of ZNF185 is a common feature of lung tumours
ZNF185 may function as a tumor-suppressor protein by associating with the actin-cytoskeleton
Zinc-finger proteins bind nucleic acids and play important roles in various cellular functions, including cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis. This gene encodes a LIM-domain zinc finger protein. The LIM domain is composed of two contiguous zinc finger domains, separated by a two-amino acid residue hydrophobic linker. The LIM domain mediates protein:protein interactions. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified.
