The over-secretion of alpha-2-Heremans-Schmid glycoprotein by visceral adipose tissue, the increased secretion of the active phosphorylated form by subcutaneous adipose tissuein obese animals, and the adipose-derived alpha-2-Heremans-Schmid glycoprotein capacity to inhibit the insulin (show INS Antibodies) pathway suggest the participation of adipose-derived alpha-2-Heremans-Schmid glycoprotein in the deleterious effects of obesity.
AHSG can be used to distinguish between inflammatory bowel disease and irritable bowel syndrome patients or healthy controls while at the same time "predicting" complicated disease behavior, need for therapy escalation and surgery.
Lower baseline fetuin A levels and the presence of VC were independently linked to higher risk of incident fractures in prevalent dialysis patients
present whole-exome sequencing results of a large consanguineous family segregating APMR syndrome with seven affected family members. Our study revealed a novel predicted pathogenic, homozygous missense mutation in the AHSG (OMIM 138680) gene
fetuin A positively predicts circulating fetuin B (show FETUB Antibodies) in gestational diabetes mellitus
Predictive role of the hepatokine fetuin A as a noninvasive biomarker of hepatic steatosis in preoperative settings. Compared to non-NAFLD (show TSC2 Antibodies) subjects fetuin A was increased in NAFLD (show TSC2 Antibodies) (p = .009) and in NASH (show SAMSN1 Antibodies) (p = .029).
The rs4918 minor variant is associated with lower TNFalpha (show TNF Antibodies) and adiponectin (show ADIPOQ Antibodies), higher leptin (show LEP Antibodies) levels in healthy persons, and more favorable anthropomorphic parameters of obesity. The G allele was more frequent among lean than obese patients (RR=1.067, 95%CI=1.053-2.651, p=0.015). An association between BMI and rs4918 polymorphism was observed among patients without diabetes but not in diabetics.
fetuin-A does not have a role in the overall risk of cardiovascular disease
Significant disturbance in serum and urinary fetuin-A levels, which was related to renal functions, had occurred during HDMTX and persisted for at least 4 months after the consolidation. Serum and urine fetuin-A could be sensitive markers for subtle renal dysfunction in ALL children.
Serum fetuin-A level is not associated with disease progression and death and does not enhance risk prediction in non-dialysis chronic kidney disease stages 3-5.
Site-specific analysis of the O-glycosylation of bovine fetuin by electron-transfer dissociation mass spectrometry.
These experiments revealed a second mechanism of long-term mineral ion stabilization by the fetuin-A that is complementary to the formation of calciprotein particles.
AHSG is produced in bone, mainly in osteocytes and also show for the first time that its production is modulated by FGF23 (show FGF23 Antibodies).
These findings establish urinary Fetuin-A as a sensitive biomarker of the progression of autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease.
Plasma levels of the calcification inhibitor fetuin-A were significantly decreased in CKD animals compared to controls.
fetuin-A regulates endochondral ossification through mineralization inhibition and lipid (hormone) binding [review]
Our results show that CSF (show CSF2 Antibodies) fetuin-A is a biomarker of disease activity and natalizumab response in multiple sclerosis
lipid-induced FetA from adipocytes is an efficient chemokine (show CCL1 Antibodies) for macrophage migration and polarization
FetA, via its terminal galactoside moiety, directly binds Leu100-Gly123 & Thr493-Thr516 in Tlr4 (show TLR4 Antibodies), fulfilling the requirement of an endogenous ligand for TLR4 (show TLR4 Antibodies) through which lipids induce insulin (show INS Antibodies) resistance.
Our results show that fetuin-A has a developmental rather than a structural role in murine bone.
Fetuin-A-containing calciprotein particles facilitate the clearance of mineral debris by macrophages via SR-A (show MSR1 Antibodies).
ER stress induced by high glucose and palmitate increases the expression of fetuin-A and further contributes to the development of insulin (show INS Antibodies) resistance
Alpha2-HS glycoprotein (AHSG), a glycoprotein present in the serum, is synthesized by hepatocytes. The AHSG molecule consists of two polypeptide chains, which are both cleaved from a proprotein encoded from a single mRNA. It is involved in several functions, such as endocytosis, brain development and the formation of bone tissue. The protein is commonly present in the cortical plate of the immature cerebral cortex and bone marrow hemopoietic matrix, and it has therefore been postulated that it participates in the development of the tissues. However, its exact significance is still obscure.
