Immunogen Rabbit polyclol APP antibody was raised against a peptide corresponding to amino acids of human amyloid A4 protein precursor (APP) corresponding to the amino terminus of the 4K A( peptide generated by beta-and gamma-secretases . The peptide sequences are identical to those of rabbit, pig, bovine, guinea pig, and chicken.
Blocking Peptide Blocking peptide for this product available: ABIN1003710
Isotype IgG
Purification Affinity chromatography purified via peptide column.
Background Accumulation of the amyloid-beta peptide (Abeta) in the cerebral cortex is a critical event in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease. The beta-amyloid protein precursor (APP) is cleaved by beta-secretase, producing a soluble derivative of the protein and a membrane anchored 99-amino acid carboxy-terminal fragment (C99). The C99 fragment serves as substrate for gamma-secretase to generate the 4 kDa amyloid-beta peptide (Abeta), which is deposited in the brains of all suffers of Alzheimer's disease.
Application Notes APP antibody can be used for detection of APP and Ab peptide by Western blot at 0.5 - 1 µg/ml. (Optimal dilution should be determined by user.) Antibody can also be used for immunohistochemistry and ELISA and might be suited for other applications not tested so far.
Restrictions For Research Use only
Format Liquid
Buffer Antibody is supplied in PBS containing 0.02% sodium azide.
Preservative Sodium azide
Precaution of Use This product contains sodium azide: a POISONOUS AND HAZARDOUS SUBSTANCE which should be handled by trained staff only.
Handling Advice Antibody can be stored at 4 °C, stable for one year. As with all antibodies care should be taken to avoid repeated freeze thaw cycles. Antibodies should not be exposed to prolonged high temperatures. During shipment, small volumes of antibody will occasionally become entrapped in the seal of the product vial. For products with volumes of 200 myl or less, we recommend gently tapping the vial on a hard surface or briefly centrifuging the vial in a tabletop centrifuge to dislodge any liquid in the container’s cap.
Storage 4 °C
Expiry Date 12 months
