This antibody reacts with a 66 kD (latent) and 54 kD (active) proteins. MMPs are a group of enzymes involved in matrix degradation. Of the sixteen members of matrix metalloproteinase family ten exist in soluble form whereas MT-MMPs exist as integral membrane proteins. MT1-MMP, MT2-MMP and MT3-MMP also known as MMp14, MMP15 and MMp16 respectively. They contain a C-terminal transmembrane domain anchoring them to the cell surface. MT2-MMP plays a minor role in activation of pro-MMP2 to its active form in breast carcinomas. Coexpression of MT1-MMP and MT2-MMP in advanced stages of breast carcinomas is indicative of possible involvement of MT2-MMP in its metastasis.

Application Notes
|
Titer/Working Dilution: This antibody may be diluted to a titer of 1:100-1:200 in an ABC method. However, depending on the staining conditions employed, we suggest that final dilution should be determined by the user. Staining Protocol: We suggest an incubation period of 30 minutes at room temperature. However, depending upon the fixation conditions and the staining system employed, optimal incubation conditions should be determined by the user. This antibody is suitable for formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue sections. No pretreatment is required. Positive Control: Placenta. Cellular localization: Cytoplasmic, cell membrane Other Applications: Immunofluorescence
