Immunogen Recombinant alpha I spectrin (erythroid spectrin) SH3 domain.
Clone 17C7
Isotype IgG1
Specificity This antibody was developed against the alpha I spectrin SH3 domain (2). Specific marker for human, rat and mouse alpha I spectrin. Reacts with erythroid spectrin in red blood cells and in cerebellum. Does not cross react with alpha II (non-erythroid) spectrin SH3 domain or recombinant human fodrin SH3 domain. In cerebellar cell cultures, clone 17C7 labels cell bodies consistent with localization of erythroid spectrin. In NIH 3T3 cells, clone 17C7 reacts with a 200 kDa protein which is a candidate marker of endocytic vesicles called macropinosomes (1,2,5).
Purification Ammonium Sulfate Precipitation and dialysis.
Alternative Name Spectrin alpha Chain (Erythrocyte) / SPTA1
Background Synonyms: Erythroid alpha-spectrin, SPTA
Gene ID 6708
NCBI Accession NP_003117
UniProt P02549
Application Notes Suitable for use in ELISA (1/10e5-1/10^6), Western blot (1/10e2-1/10e3),Immunofluorescence (1/100-1/500) and Immunohistochemistry (1/10-1/50, Frozen only.
