Description The genus Aspergillus includes over 185 species. Around 20 species have been reported ascausative agents of opportunistic infections in humans. Among these, Aspergillusfumigatus is the most commonly isolated species, followed by Aspergillus flavus. Aspergillus fumigatus is the major cause of aspergillosis. This organism causes bothinvasive and allergic aspergillosis. Aspergillus also produce fungal toxins called mycotoxins. Aflatoxin is produced byAspergillus flavus as it grows on corn and peanuts. The toxin is poisonous to humans byingestion and causes liver disease. Aspergillus nidulans can produce the mycotoxinsterigmatocystin. This toxin has been shown to produce liver and kidney damage in labanimals. Aspergillus oschraceus,found in grains, soil and salted food products canproduce a kidney toxin called oschratoxin A, which may produce oschratoxicosis inhumans. Ochratoxin may also be produced by other aspergillus and penicillium species. Other toxins that can be produced by this fungus include penicillic acid, xanthomegninand viomellein. Aspergillus infections have a very high mortality rate. Their incidence is growing because ofthe increased number of immunocompromised patients. Previous to antibodies such asthese, special stains were used to identify aspergillus.
Specificity Reactive with Aspergillus in ELISA. Cross-reactivity with other organisms not determined.

Application Details

Application Notes Suitable for use in ELISA. A starting range of 1: 20 - 1: 200 is suggested for ELISA. Other applications not tested. Optimal dilutions are dependent on conditions and should be determined by the user.
Concentration 0.1 mg/ml (OD280 nm, E0.1% = 1.4)
Buffer 0.01 M PBS, pH 7.2 with 0.09% sodium azide as preservative. Withoutstabilizer.
Storage Store the antibody at 2-8°C for one month or at -20°C for longer. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Shelf life: one year from despatch.
