Description
L-Dopa is an amino acid that is converted to dopamine in the brain. It is often given topatients in order to alleviate some of the symptoms of Parkinson's disease as, unlikedopamine itself, it can cross the blood-brain barrier.

Specificity
This antibody is specific for conjugated L-dihydroxyphenylalanine (L-DOPA). The followingreactivites were determined by competition ELISA: Compound: *Cross reactivity ratioL-Dopa-G-HMW: 1alpha-methyl-L-Dopa-G-HMW: 1/2,2003-O-methyl-L-Dopa-G-HMW: 1/50KDopamine-G-HMW: > 1/50KNoradrenaline-G-HMW: >1/50KTyrosine-G-HMW: > 1/50K*L-Dopa-G-HMW concentration/other conjugated catecholamine concentration at halfdisplacement. Species: Human. Others not tested.
