Description: Keratin K5 is expressed in the basal cells of the larynx, esophagus, trachea, bladder,prostate, cervix, vagina, breast acini, skin and sweat glands. In several studies thecorrelation between the expression of keratin K5 in different types of carcinomas(putatively derived from basal epithelial cells) and prognosis has been discussed (seereferences listed below).

Specificity: The antiserum reacts with keratin K5. Recactive Polypeptide. Basic keratin K5 (Mr 58 000, formerly also designated cytokeratin5), expressed in basal and first suprabasal layers of epidermis. Species Reactivity: Tested: Human, Bovine and Mouse.

Application Notes: Immunohistochemistry on Frozen Sections: 1/100. Immunohistochemistry on Paraffin Sections: 1/50. Western Blot: 1/5000-1/10000 (ECL). Cytological material. Incubation time: 1 h at RT, extended with P. Other applications not tested. Optimal dilutions are dependent on conditions and should be determined by the user.

Storage: Store the antibody undiluted at 2-8°C. DO NOT FREEZE! Shelf life: one year from despatch.
