Description
Desmocollin 2 is a calcium dependent glycoprotein that is a member of the desmocollinsubfamily of the cadherin superfamily. These desmosomal family members, along with thedesmogleins, are found primarily in epithelial cells where they constitute the adhesiveproteins of the desmosome cell-cell junction and are required for cell adhesion anddesmosome formation. Mutations in Desmocollin 2 are associated with arrhythmogenicright ventricular dysplasia 11. Alternative splicing results in two transcript variantsencoding distinct isoforms.
Specificity
Reacts with Desmocollin 2a and 2b (splice forms, mw 78 535, corresponding to 712 aminoacids). Localization: All desmosome-possessing cell types, including epithelia, myocardiac cellsand lymph nodes and neoplasia derived therefrom. Species: Human and Bovine. Others not tested.
Application Notes
Immunoblotting (Western). Cytological material. Immunohistochemistry on Frozen Sections and Paraffin Embedded Tissue. Incubation time: 1 h at RT, extended with paraffin. Working Dilutions: 1/100 for Frozen Sections.1/50 for Paraffin-Embedded tissue.1/2000 for Western Blotting. Other applications not tested. Optimal dilutions are dependent on conditions and should be determined by the user.
