| Description | Calcitonin is produced by the C-cells of the thyroid. The antibody can be used in thediagnosis of medullary carcinoma and of C-cell hyperplasia. Calcitonin may also occur inbronchial carcinoids and in tumors of adrenal medulla and of panreatic islets. |
| Specificity | Reactive with calcitonin. Species: Human, mouse, rat, rabbit. Others not tested. Add. Information: Specificity has been tested by immunoblotting and Ouchterlony. |
Application Details
| Application Notes | Western Blot. Immunofluorescence. Immunohistochemistry on frozen and paraffin embedded tissues: 1: 50 - 1: 100 (diluteimmediately before use with PBS). Incubation time: 30 min at room temperature orovernight at 2-8C. No proteolytic treatment required. The antibody shows a cytoplasmic staining. Recommended positive control: Thyroid. Other applications not tested. Optimal dilutions are dependent on conditions and should be determined by the user. |
