| Description | Gonadotropin releasing hormone (GnRH), also known as luteinizing hormone releasinghormone (LHRH), is a key molecule in the regulation of reproduction in vertebrates. GnRH,a decapeptide, is produced by neurons in the medial basal hypothalamus (MBH) andsecreted in a pulsatile manner into the cardiovascular system. The frequency andamplitude of GnRH pulses determine secretion of follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) andluteinizing hormone (LH) from the pituitary. Higher frequencies (greater than one pulse perhour) stimulate LH secretion while lower frequencies stimulate FSH secretion. Thegeneration of GnRH pulses is effected by numerous stimuli, such as neural, hormonal andenvironmental. Therefore, behavioral and physiological conditions such as sleep, exercise, and stress can affect the GnRH pulses and cause a disruption of the normal cycle. Recentstudies show that GnRH also has a role in mediating cancer. GnRH has been shown toinhibit the growth of human uterine leiomyloma cells by suppressing proliferation andinducing apoptosis. GnRH analogs have been used to treat a wide variety of reproductivecancers, although the side effects of using such compounds are often quite severe. |

Application Details
| Application Notes | RIA. ELISA. Immunohistochemistry on Frozen and Paraffin Embedded Sections: No proteasepretreatment required. Working Dilution: 1/50 (using the normal ABC method). Dilution Buffer: Dilute immediately before use with PBS or TBS. Incubation time: 1 h at room temperature. Recommended Positive Control: Hypothalamus. Other applications not tested. Optimal dilutions are dependent on conditions and should be determined by the user. |
| Storage | Store the antibody undiluted at 2-8°C for one month or (in aliquots) at -20°C for longer. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Shelf life: one year from despatch. |
