Description
The muscarinic cholinergic receptors belong to a larger family of G protein-coupledreceptors. The functional diversity of these receptors is defined by the binding ofacetylcholine and includes cellular responses such as adenylate cyclase inhibition, phosphoinositide degeneration, and potassium channel mediation. Muscarinic receptorsinfluence many effects of acetylcholine in the central and peripheral nervous system. Themuscarinic cholinergic receptor 1 is involved in mediation of vagally-inducedbronchoconstriction and in the acid secretion of the gastrointestinal tract. Muscarinic receptors are so called as they are more sensitive to the effects of the alkaloidmuscarine, rather than nicotine.

Application Notes
ELISAImmunofluoescenceCryo sections: PLP fixed rat brain sections using ABC techniques at a dilution of 1: 5,000. Western immunoblots using whole rat brain homogenerate has been successful at adilution of 1: 800. Other applications not tested. Optimal dilutions are dependent on conditions and should be determined by the user.
