| Description | S-100 belongs to the family of calcium binding proteins such as calmodulin and troponinC. S-100A and S-100B proteins are two members of the S-100 family. S-100A is composedof an alpha and beta chain whereas S-100B is composed of two beta chains. |
| Specificity | This antibody reacts with S-100 protein. It stains Schwannomas, ependymomas, astrogliomas, almost all benign and malignantmelanomas, and their metastases. Cellular Localization: Cytoplasmic. Species Reactivity: Tested: Human, Cow, Mouse and Rat. |
Application Details
| Application Notes | Immunohistochemistry on Paraffin Embedded Sections: Use at 1/50-1/100 dilution in anABC method for 30 minutes at room temperature (No treatment is required). Recommended Positive Control: Melanoma. Other applications not tested. Optimal dilutions are dependent on conditions and should be determined by the user. |
| Storage | Store the antibody undiluted at 2-8°C for one month or (in aliquots) at -20°C for longer. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Shelf life: one year from despatch. |
