Immunogen Synthetic Human ACTH 1-24.
Specificity This antibody reacts with Human ACTH in a wide variety of Mammalian species. Traces of contaminating antibodies have been removed by solid phase absorption.
Cellular Localization: Cytoplasmic.
Purification Serum
Alternative Name POMC (POMC Antibody Abstract)
Background ACTH occurs in cells of the anterior pituitary and in neurons in brain. It regulates the corticosteroid production in the adrenal cortex. Beta endorphin and Met enkephalin are endogenous opiates. MSH (melanocyte stimulating hormone) increases the pigmentation of skin by increasing melanin production in melanocytes.Synonyms: Adrenocorticotropic hormone, Corticotropin, POMC
Gene ID 5443
NCBI Accession NP_000930
UniProt P01189
Research Area Cancer, Endocrine system, Metabolism, Hormones
Pathways Metabolism of Steroid Hormones and Vitamin D, Peptide Hormone Metabolism, Hormone Activity, Feeding Behaviour
Application Notes Immunohistochemistry on Formalin Fixed, Paraffin Embedded Tissue Sections: Use at1/50-1/250 dilution in an ABC method (30 minutes at RT). Recommended Positive Control: Pituitary
Other applications not tested.
Optimal dilutions are dependent on conditions and should be determined by the user.
Restrictions For Research Use only
