Additional Information
| Characteristics | Synonyms: Calcitonin gene-related peptide I, Alpha-type CGRP, CALC1, CGRP-I |
| Alternative name | CGRP / CALCA |
| Swiss-Prot | P06881 |
| Immunogen | Synthetic human CGRP (Peninsula) |
| Format | Serum |
| Description | The CGRP-sequence was predicted from the corresponding mRNA. CGRP is present in theC-cells of the thyroid and in nerves, in both brain and periphery, particularly within thesensory system. CGRP is a potent vasodilator, probably involved in neurogenicinflammation. Medullary carcinomas of the thyroid contain large amounts of CGRP. |
| Specificity | Absorption with 10-100 µg CGRP per ml diluted antiserum abolishes the staining, whilewhile calcitonin does not. Cross-reacts with amylin (IAPP). Species: Human, rat. Others not tested. |
Application Details
| Application Notes | Immunohistochemistry, Immunofluorescence. Suitable for paraffin and frozen sections. Working dilution 1: 1000-1: 1200 (immunofluorescence microscopy) with overnightincubation at 2-8C. Other applications not tested. Optimal dilutions are dependent on conditions and should be determined by the user. |
| Storage | Store lyophilized at 2-8°C. After reconstitution store the antibody undiluted at 2-8°C for one month or (in aliquots)at-20°C for longer. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Shelf life: one year from despatch. |
| Research Area | Hormones, Neurotransmitters |
