Additional Information

Characteristics Synonyms: CAT, Peroxisome Marker
Alternative name Catalase
Swiss-Prot P00432
Immunogen Catalase from Bovine liver.
Description Catalase is the classical marker for peroxisomes and is the most abundant protein withinperoxisomes. It is found in almost all aerobically respiring organisms and serves to protectcells from the toxic effects of hydrogen peroxide.
Specificity This product is an IgG fraction antibody purified from monospecific antiserum by amulti-step process which includes delipidation, salt fractionation and ion exchangechromatography followed by extensive dialysis against the buffer stated above. Assay by immunoelectrophoresis resulted in a single precipitin arc against antiPeroxidase, anti-Rabbit Serum as well as purified and partially purified Catalase [Bovineliver]. Cross reactivity against Catalase from other tissues and species may occur but have notbeen specifically determined.

Application Details

Application Notes Suitable for Immunoblotting (Western or Dot blot), ELISA, Immunohistochemistry and mostperoxidase based Immunological methods requiring high titer and specificity. Recommended Dilutions: This product has been assayed against 1.0 ug of Catalase [Bovineliver] in a standard sandwich ELISA using ABTS(2,2'-azino-bis-[3-ethylbenthiazoline-6-sulfonic acid]) as a substrate for 30 minutes atroom temperature. A working dilution of 1: 10,000 to 1: 40,000 of the reconstitutionconcentration is suggested for this product. Other applications not tested. Optimal dilutions are dependent on conditions and should be determined by the user.
