Description Heat shock protein 60 (HSP60) is homologous to HSP65 (a major antigenic mycobacterial protein) and E. coli GroEL. HSP60, also referred to as chaperonin-60, P1 and mitonin, has been classified as a member of a family of proteins termed chaperonins which act to recognize and stabilize polypeptide intermediates during folding, assembly and disassembly. HSP60 is an abundant protein which is constitutively expressed and is induced by environmental stress. HSP60 exists as a large oligomer composed of 14~60 kDa subunits arranged as two stacked rings. Alternate Names: HSPD1, HSP60, HSP-60, CPN60, 60 kDa heat shock protein, Heat shock protein 60, 60 kDa chaperonin, Chaperonin 60, Mitochondrial matrix protein P1, P60 lymphocyte protein, HuCHA60.
Specificity ABIN120994 detects heat shock protein 60 kDa (HSP60) from bacteria, all three species of Chlamydia HSP60 with minimal cross-reactivity with Borrelia burgdorferi HSP60. It does not react with E. coli GroEL or HeLa HSP60. Epitope mapping studies suggest that this antibody binds to a linear sequence of Chlamydia HSP60 amino acids 517-522.

Application Details

Application Notes Immunocytochemistry: 1/500. Immunocytochemical staining of HSP60 in HeLa cells infected with Chlamydia with ABIN120994 results in staining of the elementary and reticulate bodies within the chlamydial inclusions. Immunoprecipitation. Western Blot: 1/1000, this antibody detects a single ~60 kDa band representing HSP60 from C. trachomatis lysate. Other applications not tested. Optimal dilutions are dependent on conditions and should be determined by the user.
Buffer This antibody is supplied as liquid, PBS-diluted ascites containing 0.05% sodium azide as preservative.
Storage Store the antibody at -20°C. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Shelf Life: One year from despatch.
