Alternative Name STAT6
Background STATs (signal transducers and activators of transcription) are a family of cytoplasmic latent transcription factors that are activated to regulate gene expression in response to a large number of extracellular signaling polypeptides including cytokines, interferons, and growth factors. After phosphorylation by JAK tyrosine kinases, STATs enter the nucleus to regulate transcription of many different genes. Stat6 is rapidly tyrosine phosphorylated following stimulation of appropriate cell lines with IL-3, IL-4, epidermal growth factor (EGF), but is not detectably phosphorylated following stimulation with IL-2, IL-12, or erythropoietin.
UniProt P42226
Research Area Chromatin and Nuclear Signaling, Signaling, Receptors, Inflammation
Application Notes Western blot: 1-2 ug/ml. Immunoprecipitation: 1-2 ug/ml. Recommended Positive Control : NIH 3T3 cells treated with either anisomycin (10 ug/ml) or EGF (100 ng/ml). Other applications not tested. Optimal dilutions are dependent on conditions and should be determined by the user.
