Immunogen Bovine brain S-100
Specificity This antibody reacts with S-100 A and S-100 B. This protein is present in brain glial cells and in ependymal cells. This antibody also stains Schwann cells of the peripheral nervous system.
Characteristics Synonyms: S100-A1, S100A, S100 alpha, S100 calcium-binding protein A1, S-100 protein subunitalpha, S-100 protein alpha chain
Purification Ammonium Sulphate Precipitation
Alternative Name S100A1
Background Among tumours of the human central and peripheral nervous systems, schwannomas, ependymomas and astrogliomas of different stages, including glioblastomas show positive reactions. S100 can be detected in almost all benign naevi and malignant melanocytic tumours of the skin, and in Langerhans cells in the skin.Synonyms: S-100 protein alpha chain, S-100 protein subunit alpha, S100 alpha, S100 calcium-binding protein A1, S100-A1, S100A
Gene ID 528735
UniProt P02639
