| Description | The Metabotropic Glutamate Receptor GRM3 binds L-glutamate, the major excitatory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system, which activates both ionotropic and metabotropic glutamate receptors. Glutamatergic neurotransmission is involved in most aspects of normal brain function and can be perturbed in many neuropathologic conditions. Metabotropic glutamate receptor Group II includes the GRM2 and GRM3 receptors that are linked to inhibition of the cyclic AMP signaling cascade. GRM3 has been reported in various regions of the brain and spinal cord. ESTs have been isolated from brain, embryo, fetal lung/testis/B-cell, nerve, placenta, prostate, and vessel libraries. Caution: GLUR3 refers to Ionotropic Glutamate Receptor 3, not to Metabotropic Glutamate Receptor 3 (mGLUR3). Alternate Names: MGLU3, MGLUR3, GLUR3, GPRC1C, grm3, metabotropic glutamate receptor type 3, mGlu2/3, mGlu2/3 receptor, mGlu3, mGlu3 receptor, mGluR2/3, mGluR3, type 3 metabotropic glutamate receptor. |
| Specificity | Reacts with Metabotropic Glutamate Receptor 3 (family: GPCR, subfamily: Metabotropic glutamate). The immunizing peptide shows 88 % identity (94 % similarity) with mouse and 94 % identity (94 % similarity) with rat |
Application Details
| Application Notes | Western Blot. Immunocytochemistry. Immunohistochemistry with formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissues: 9 ug/ml Antigen retrieval: Steam slides in 0.01 M sodium citrate buffer, pH 6.0, at 99-100°C for 20 min. Remove from heat and let stand at room temperature in buffer for 20 min. Rinse in 1x TBS with Tween (TBST) for 1 min. at room temperature. Other applications not tested. Optimal dilutions are dependent on conditions and should be determined by the user. Further Comments: This product was originally produced by MBL International. |
| Concentration | 1.0 mg/ml |
| Buffer | PBS, pH 7.7, containing 0.01% sodium azide |
| Storage | Store the antibody undiluted at 2-8°C for one month or (in aliquots) at -70°C for longer. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Shelf life: one year from despatch. |
