Immunogen A portion of amino acids 150-193 of human PUMA a
Purification Protein G Chromatography
Alternative Name PUMA
Background A novel p53 inducible pro-apoptotic gene was identified recently and designated PUMA (for p53 upregulated modulator of apoptosis) in human and mouse. The PUMA gene encodes two BH3 domain-containing proteins termed PUMA-alpha and PUMA-beta. PUMA proteins bind Bcl-2, localize to the mitochondria, and induce cytochrome c release and apoptosis in response to p53. PUMA may be a direct mediator of p53-induced apoptosis.
UniProt Q9BXH1
Research Area Cancer, Apoptosis/Necrosis, Metabolism
Application Notes IHC (paraffin): see Karst et al, 2005. Western blots (1:500 - 1:1,000). Recommended Positive Control: Jurkat or NIH 3T3 cell lysate. Other applications not tested. Optimal dilutions are dependent on conditions and should be determined by the user.
