Description
Keratin 14 is a member of the keratin family, the most diverse group of intermediatefilaments. It is usually found as a heterotetramer with two molecules of keratin 5, a typeII keratin. Together they form the cytoskeleton of epithelial cells. Mutations in the genesfor these keratins are associated with epidermolysis bullosa simplex. Keratin 14 hasbeen studied as a prognostic marker in breast cancer. This antibody labels the basallayer of stratifying squamous and non-squamous epithelia. The staining patterniscytoplasmic. It recognizes basal cell carcinomas and squamous cell carcinomas. Alternate Names: anti-CK 14 antibody, anti-ck14 antibody, anti-Cytokeratin 14 antibody,anti-Cytokeratin14 antibody,anti-Dowling Meara antibody,anti-ebs3 antibody, anti-ebs4 antibody,anti-Epidermolysis bullosa simplex antibody, anti-k14 antibody, anti-Keratin 14 antibody,anti-Keratin type I cytoskeletal 14 antibody,anti-Keratin14 antibody, anti-Koebner antibody, anti-Krt 14 antibody, anti-krt14 antibody.

Specificity
This antibody is specific to 50 kD cytokeratin protein designated cytokeratin 14. Cytokeratin 14 belongs to the type A (acidic) subfamily of low MW cytokeratins and exists in combination with cytokeratin 15. This antibody can be useful to distinguish stratified epithelial cells from simple epithelial cells.

Application Notes
Titer/Working Dilution: This antibody may be diluted to a titer of 1:25 to 1:75 in an ABC method. However, depending on the staining conditions employed, we suggest that final dilution should be determined by the user. Staining Protocol: We suggest an incubation period of 30 minutes at room temperature. However, depending upon the fixation conditions and the staining system employed, optimal incubation should be determined by the user. Formalin fixed paraffin embedded tissue sections require high temperature antigen unmasking with 10 mM citrate buffer, pH 6.0 prior to immunostaining. Positive Control: Skin. Cellular localization: Cytoplasmic Other Applications: Immunoprecipitation (1:50), Western Blotting (1:50 to 1:100)
