Immunogen Synthetic peptide of Human keratin K1 (formerly also designated Cytokeratin 1) coupled to KLH
Specificity Reacts with Basic keratin K1 (Mr 66 000). Specific for keratin K1 in suprabasal layers of cornified squamous epithelia, e.g. the suprabasal layer of scalp and foot sole. Negative with non-keratinizing stratified and non-stratified epithelia (e.g. esophagus, duodenum)!
Cross-Reactivity (Details) Species reactivity (tested):Human and Mouse.
Purification Serum
Alternative Name Cytokeratin 1 (KRT1 Antibody Abstract)
Background Cytokeratin 1 is a type II Cytokeratin. The type II Cytokeratins consist of basic or neutral proteins which are arranged in pairs of heterotypic keratin chains coexpressed during differentiation of simple and stratified epithelial tissues. This type II Cytokeratin is specifically expressed in the spinous and granular layers of the epidermis with family member KRT10 and mutations in these genes have been associated with bullous congenital ichthyosiform erythroderma.Synonyms: 67 kDA cytokeratin, Cytokeratin 1, Hair alpha protein, K1, KRT1, KRTA, Keratin type II cytoskeletal 1, Keratin-1
Gene ID 3848
NCBI Accession NP_006112
UniProt P04264
Research Area Signaling, Cytoskeleton, Cytokeratins, Extracellular Matrix
Application Notes Cytological Material. Western blotting: 1/3,000 (ECL). Immunohistochemistry on Frozen Sections: 1/200. Immunohistochemistry on Paraffin Embedded Material: 1/100 (after microwave treatmentor trypsin). Incubation Time: 1 h at RT, extended with paraffin sections. Positive Control: Human foot sole.
