Additional Information

Alternative name Cytokeratin 8
UniProt P05787
Immunogen Synthetic peptide (C-MSIRVTQKSYKVST) of human keratin K8 (formerly also designatedcytokeratin 8), coupled to KLH.
Cross-Reactivity Human, Mouse (Murine)
Description Cytokeratin 8 belongs to the type B (basic) subfamily of high molecular weight keratins andexists in combination with cytokeratin 18. Cytokeratin 8 is primarily found in the nonsquamous epithelia and is present in majority of adenocarcinomas and ductal carcinomas. It is absent in squamous cell carcinomas. Hepatocellular carcinomas are defined by theuse of antibodies that recognize only cytokeratin polypeptides 8 and 18.
Characteristics Synonyms: KRT8, CYK8, Cytokeratin-8, CK8, Keratin-8, K8, Cytokeratin endo A, Keratin, type IIcytoskeletal 8
Specificity Specific for keratin K8. Marker for discrimination of simple / non-stratified epithelia fromthose of stratified origin. Basic human keratin K8 (Mr 52 000) of all simple type andcomplex epithelia. Species: Human, Mouse. Others not tested.
