Immunogen Synthetic peptide (C-MSIRVTQKSYKVST) of Human keratin K8 (formerly also designated cytokeratin 8), coupled to KLH.
Specificity Specific for Keratin K8. Marker for discrimination of simple / non-stratified epithelia from those of stratified origin. Basic human keratin K8 (Mr 52 000) of all simple type and complex epithelia.
Purification Serum
Alternative Name Cytokeratin 8
Background Cytokeratin 8 belongs to the type B (basic) subfamily of high molecular weight keratins and exists in combination with cytokeratin 18. Cytokeratin 8 is primarily found in the non squamous epithelia and is present in majority of adenocarcinomas and ductal carcinomas. It is absent in squamous cell carcinomas. Hepatocellular carcinomas are defined by the use of antibodies that recognize only cytokeratin polypeptides 8 and 18.
Alternate names: CK8, CYK8, Cytokeratin endo A, Cytokeratin-8, K8, KRT8, Keratin, Keratin-8, type II cytoskeletal 8
Gene ID 3856
NCBI Accession NP_002264.1
UniProt P05787
Research Area Cancer, Cytoskeleton, Cytokeratins, Extracellular Matrix
Application Notes Immunoblotting: 1: 3000, ECL method. Immunohistochemistry on frozen sections: 1: 200. Immunohistochemistry on paraffin sections: 1: 100, 1h at RT, after microwave treatment ortrypsin. Immunohistochemistry on cytological material. Positive Control: Human intestinal epitheliaOther applications not tested. Optimal dilutions are dependent on conditions and should be determined by the user.
