Description: KRT81 (Keratin 81) is a type II hair keratin. It is a basic protein which heterodimerizes withtype I keratins to form hair and nails. It is found primarily in the hair cortex. Mutations inKRT81 have been observed in patients with, monilethrix, a rare dominant hair diseasecharacterized by beaded or moniliform hair that results from the periodic thinning of thehair shaft and shows a high propensity to excess weathering and fracturing.

Application Details

Application Notes: Immunofluorescence microscopy. Immunoblotting: 1 : 2,000, ECL method. Immunohistochemistry on frozen and paraffin (after trypsin and microwave pretreatment)sections: 1 : 200, 1h at RT. Other applications not tested. Optimal dilutions are dependent on conditions and should be determined by the user.
