Additional Information

Characteristics Synonyms: CCIN
Alternative name Calicin
Swiss-Prot Q28068
Immunogen Synthetic N-terminal domain (aa 1-24) of bovine calicin, coupled to KLH.
Format Serum
Description Calicin is a basic protein of the sperm head cytoskeleton, necessary for normalmorphology during sperm differentiation. This protein contains kelch repeats and aBTB/POZ domain and is intronless.
Specificity Sperm head calyx protein calicin (mw 66,889, IEP 8. 1, 588 amino acids), testis specificcytoskeletal protein Homologue to kelch protein of the ring canal structure of Drosophilaovaries. Useful to study spermiogenetic differentiation. Calicin is absent from pathologicforms like roundheaded or other post-acrosomal sheath defect sperm malformations. Species: Human, Bovine, Rabbit, Rat, Mouse. Others not tested.
