Additional Information

Alternative name TLR8 (Toll Like Receptor 8)
Gene ID NP_057694
Swiss-Prot Q9NR97
Immunogen This affinity purified antibody was prepared from whole rabbit serum produced by repeatedimmunizations with a synthetic peptide corresponding to an internal region of human TLR8 protein.
Format Liquid (sterile filtered)
Description TLR8 (Toll Like Receptor 8). Toll-likereceptors (TLRs) are signaling molecules that recognize differentmicrobial products during infection and serve as an important linkbetween the innate and adaptive immune responses (1-3). Theseproteins act through adaptor molecules such as MyD88 and TIRAP toactivate various kinases and transcription factors (4,5). Like TLR7,TLR8 is localized to endosomal or lysosomal compartments (6) andstimulates the innate immune response after activation by guanosine-and uridine-rich single-stranded RNA (7). Human but not murine TLR8confers responsiveness to the antiviral compound R-848 (8).
Specificity This affinity-purified antibody is directed against human TLR8 protein. The product waspurified from monospecific antiserum by immunoaffinity chromatography. A BLAST analysis was used to suggestcross reactivity with TLR8 protein from human and mouse sources based on 100% homology with the immunizingsequence. Reactivity against homologues from other sources is not known. Predicted Molecular Weight: Human TLR8, MW 121.8 kDa (1059 aa)

Application Details

Application Notes This affinity-purifiedantibody has been tested for use in ELISA,immunohistochemistry and western blot.Specific conditions for reactivity should beoptimized by the end user. Expect a band approximately 115 kDa in size corresponding toTLR8 protein by western blotting in theappropriate cell lysate or extract.
