Additional Information

Alternative name Cohesin (Scc1/Rad21)
Immunogen This antibody was purified from hybridoma (clone CM110-2C10) supernatant using protein A agarose. This hybridoma was established by fusion of mouse myeloma cell Sp2/0 with Balb/c mouse splenocyte immunized with human recombinant Cohesin C-terminal fragment (544 a.a. – 631 a.a.)
Isotype IgG1  (Matching secondary antibodies)
Clone CM110-2C10
Description The cohesin complex is required for tethering sister chromatids after DNA replication to make certain that genomic information is replicated accurately. Cohesin consists of four proteins: Smc1, Smc3, Scc1/Mcd1, which is called kleisin and is the target of the protease separase, and Scc3/Irr1. The cohesin complex apparently forms a large ring within which sister chromatids are trapped. As the cellular division process continues, separase destroys the cohesin complex by means of cleaving its Scc1 subunit, allowing the chromatids to separate and divide with the cell. The cohesin complex may also play a role in spindle pole assembly during mitosis and prevents splitting of chromosomes once bipolar attachments are made.
Specificity This antibody reacts with Cohesin (120kDa) on Western blotting.
