Immunogen Recombinant alpha I spectrin (erythroid spectrin) SH3 domain.
Clone 17C7
Isotype IgG1
Specificity Product is developed against the alpha I spectrin SH3 domain. It does not crossreact with alpha II (nonerythroid) spectrin SH3 domain or recombinant human fodrin SH3 domain. In NIH 3T3 cells, Product reacts with a 200 kDa protein which is a candidate marker of endocytic vesicles called macropinosomes.
Cross-Reactivity Mouse (Murine), Rat (Rattus)
Characteristics Cellular Localization: Anchored to the cytoplasmic face of the plasma membrane.
Purification Ammonium sulfate precipitated from tissue culture supernatant..
Background Spectrin is the predominant component of the membrane skeleton of the red blood cell and is essential in determining shape and deformability of the membrane. It consists of 2 nonidentical subunits, alpha (MW 240,000) and beta (MW 225,000). Spectrin is present in the red cell membrane in a tetrameric or possibly higher polymeric form through head-to-head self-association of heterodimers that are linked by actin polymers and protein 4.1 to form a 2-dimensional network.
Synonyms: EL2, SPTA1, alpha 1 Spectrin, 6708, alpha1 Spectrin, 182860, P02549, HPP, HS3, SPH3, SPTA
Application Notes ELISA: Use at a dilution of 1/100000-1/1000000. IF: Use at a dilution of 1/100-1/500. IHC-Fr: Use at a dilution of 1/10-1/50. WB: Use at a dilution of 1/100-1/1000. Predicted molecular weight: 280 kDa. Not tested in other applications. Optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user.
