Description Cadherins are members of a multigene family of single chain glycoprotein receptorsmediating Ca2+-dependent cell-cell adhesion.1,2,3 The N-terminal part of thesemolecules is exposed on the external cell surface and contains the putative homophilicbinding sites. This is followed by a typical single transmembrane sequence and usuallya cytoplasmic C-terminal tail which mediates interaction with the microfilament systemthrough molecules such as catenins, plakoglobin, vinculin, and.
Specificity Reacts with all cadherins. The cadherins migrate in the molecular weight range of 125 to140 kDa and are tissue dependent. Species Reactivity: Cross-reacts with Human, Mouse, Rat, Cat, Chicken, Cow, Dog, Goat, Guinea Pig,Hamster, Pig, Psammoys (sand rat), Rabbit, Sheep, Snake and Xenopus. Not yet testedin other species. Localization: Cell membrane.
