Immunogen Human holo-transferrin purified from serum and shown to be homogeneous by SDS-PAGE.
Specificity This product gives a single arc when tested by IEP and 2D-IEP against human serum. Identity is confirmed by double diffusion (Ouchterlony) vs human serum and a known anti-human transferrin.
No Cross-Reactivity Cow (Bovine), Dog (Canine), Chicken, Horse (Equine), Goat, Pig (Porcine)
Cross-Reactivity (Details) Not yet tested against other species.
Purification IgG purified
Background Transferrin is a single polypeptide chain glycoprotein and is a member of the ironbinding family ofproteins. It has a molecular weight of 79.5 kDa and a serumconcentration range of 1800 - 2700 mg/L. It is synthesised in the liver and consists oftwo domains each having a high affinity reversible binding site for Fe3+. The iron istransported in blood and interstitial fluids to sites of use and disposal.Iron/transferrin isessential in haemoglobin synthesis and for certain types of cell division.Serumconcentration rises in iron deficiency and pregnancy and falls in iron overload, infection and inflammatory conditions. Alternate Names: anti-Beta 1 metal binding globulin antibody, anti-PRO1400 antibody, anti-PRO1557antibody, anti-PRO2086 antibody, anti-Serotransferrin precursor antibody,anti-Siderophilin antibody, anti-TF antibody, anti-Transferin antibody.
Gene Symbol: TF

Restrictions For Research Use only
Format Liquid
Concentration 34.3 mg/mL
Buffer Glycine buffered saline [pH 7.4] containing 0.1 % EACA, 0.01 % Benzamidine and 1 mM EDTA, Sodium Azide
Preservative Sodium azide
Precaution of Use WARNING: Reagents contain sodium azide. Sodium azide is very toxic if ingested or inhaled. Avoid contact with skin, eyes, or clothing. Wear eye or face protection when handling. If skin or eye contact occurs, wash with copious amounts of water. If ingested or inhaled, contact a physician immediately. Sodium azide yields toxic hydrazoic acid under acidic conditions. Dilute azide-containing compounds in running water before discarding to avoid accumulation of potentially explosive deposits in lead or copper plumbing.
Handling Advice Avoid freeze-thaw cycles
Storage 4 °C
Storage Comment 4 °C short term. Aliquot and store at -20 °C long term.
