Background VEGF (Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor) is a homodimeric, disulfide-linkedglycoprotein involved in angiogenesis which promotes tumor progression andmetastasis. It exhibits potent mitogenic and permeability inducing properties specific forthe vascular endothelium. Of the four isoforms of VEGF, the smaller two, VEGF 165 andVEGF 121, are secreted proteins and act as diffusible agents, whereas the larger two(VEGF 189 and VEGF 206) remain cell associated. Alternate Names: anti-Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor antibody, anti-Vascular Permeability Factorantibody, anti-VEGFA antibody, anti-VPF antibody.

Application Notes This VEGF antibody is useful for Immunohistochemistry (frozen and paraffin-embedded sections), Western blot and Immunocytochemistry/Immunofluorescence. ELISA was reported in scientific literature. In IHC a dilution of 1:20-1:50 was used in an ABC method. However, depending on the staining conditions employed, we suggest that the final dilution should be determined by the user. We suggest an incubation period of 30-60 minutes at room temperature. High temperature treatment of formalin-fixed tissue sections using 1mM EDTA, pH 8.0 must be performed prior to the immunostaining.
Recommended dilutions: ELISA, Immunocytochemistry/Immunofluorescence 1:10-1:500, Immunohistochemistry 1:20-1:100, Immunohistochemistry-Frozen 1:20-1:100, Immunohistochemistry-Paraffin 1:20-1:100, Western Blot 1-2 µg/mL

Precaution of Use WARNING: Reagents contain sodium azide. Sodium azide is very toxic if ingested or inhaled. Avoid contact with skin, eyes, or clothing. Wear eye or face protection when handling. If skin or eye contact occurs, wash with copious amounts of water. If ingested or inhaled, contact a physician immediately. Sodium azide yields toxic hydrazoic acid under acidic conditions. Dilute azide-containing compounds in running water before discarding to avoid accumulation of potentially explosive deposits in lead or copper plumbing.
