Description
Cannabinoids exert their well known physiological effects through two G protein coupledreceptors, cannabinoid receptor 1 (CB1) and CB2. Both cannabinoid receptors havebeen shown to inhibit adenylyl cyclase as well as stimulate the mitogen-activated proteinkinase, MAPK. CB1 receptors also modulate ion channels through direct G-proteininteractions. Delta 9-tetrahydrocannibinol and related ligands likely exert theirpsychoactive effects by inhibiting presynaptic N- and P / Q type calcium channels. CB2is thought to function primarily in the immune system although it has been suggested tobe present in the central nervous system, including the retina. Alternate Names: anti-CANN6 antibody, anti-CB R antibody, anti-CB1 antibody, anti-CB1A antibody,anti-CB1K5 antibody, anti-Central cannabinoid receptor isoform a antibody, anti-Centralcannabinoid receptor isoform b antibody, anti-CNR antibody.
Specificity
Detects CB1 from human and rat tissues as well as transfected rat CB1. Species Reactivity: Cross-reacts with Human and Rat.Not yet tested in other species. Localization: Integral membrane protein.
Application Notes
Western Blot: use at a dilution of 1:250. Immunocytochemistry: use at a dilution of1:1000. Optimal dilutions / concentrations should be determined by the end user. ByWestern blot, this antibody detects an ~60 kDa protein representing CB1 from rat brainhomogenate. Immunocytochemical staining of CB1 in AtT20 cells transfected with therat CB1 gene yields a pattern consistent with plasma membrane staining.
