Additional Information

Alternative name Dystrophin / DMD
Swiss-Prot P11532
Immunogen Acetylcholine Receptor (AChR)-enriched membranes and peripheral membrane proteinsfrom Torpedo nobiliana electric organ. Remarks: Mol. Wt of Antigen: 427 kDa
Isotype IgG1  (Matching secondary antibodies)
Clone 1808
Description Dystrophin is a member of the spectrin/alpha-actinin family of actin-binding, triple helixrod-containing proteins. It is absent or greatly reduced in individuals with the X-linkedrecessive Duchenne's muscular dystrophy disorder, as well as in mice with the mdx(murine muscular dystrophy) mutation.
Specificity This antibody is highly specific to Dystrophin and shows no cross-reaction with C-Protein(an isoform of alpha-Actinin), alpha-Actin, or Human muscle Spectrin. Cellular Localization: cell membrane. Species: Human, Mouse, Rat, Chicken, Xenopus, and Torpedo. Others not tested.

Application Details

Application Notes Electron Microscopy and Immunofluorescence (see Ref.1). Immunohistology (Formalin/Paraffin): Use Ab 2-4 µg/ml for 30 min at RT. Staining of formalin-fixed tissues REQUIRES boiling tissue sections in 1mM EDTA, pH 8.0. Recommended Positive Control: Skeletal Muscle. Other applications not tested. Optimal dilutions are dependent on conditions and should be determined by the user.
Concentration 0.2 mg/ml
Buffer 10 mM PBS, pH 7.4, with 0.09% Sodium Azide as preservative and 0.2%BSA as stabilizer.
Storage Store the antibody undiluted at 2-8°C for one month or (in aliquots) at -20°C for longer. Avoid repeated freeze thaw cycles! Shelf life: one year from despatch.
Restrictions For Research Use only
