Background E-cadherin (uvomorulin, cell- CAM120/80) is a calcium dependent cell adhesion molecule expressed predominately in epithelial tissues. It plays an important role in the growth and development of cells via the mechanisms of control of tissue architecture and the maintenance of tissue integrity. Numerous studies have demonstrated that reduction and/or loss of E-cadherin expression in carcinomas correlates positively with the potential of these tumors for invasion and metastasis.Synonyms: CAM 120/80, CDH1, CDHE, E-cadherin, Epithelial cadherin, UVO, Uvomorulin

Application Notes Immunohistology (Formalin/paraffin only): 1: 5-1: 10 for 30 min at RT, staining offormalin-fixed tissues REQUIRES boiling tissue sections in 10 mM citrate buffer, pH 6.0, for10-20 min followed by cooling at RT for 20 min. Positive Control: Breast carcinoma.
Other applications not tested.
Optimal dilutions are dependent on conditions and should be determined by the user.
