Alternative Name S100B (S100B Antibody Abstract)
Background S100 belongs to the family of calcium binding proteins such as calmodulin and troponin C. S100A is composed of an alpha and beta chain whereas S100B is composed of two beta chains. Antibody to S100 stains Schwannomas, ependymomas, astrogliomas, almost all benign and malignant melanomas and their metastases. S100 protein is also expressed in the antigen presenting cells such as the Langerhans cells in skin and interdigitating reticulum cells in the paracortex of lymph nodes.Synonyms: Astrocyte Marker, Protein S100-B, S-100 protein beta chain, S-100 protein subunit beta, S100 beta, S100 calcium-binding protein B
Gene ID 525716
NCBI Accession NP_001029727
UniProt P02638
Application Notes ImmunocytochemistryImmunohistology (Formalin/paraffin: use Ab at 1: 100-1: 200 for 30 min at RT, no specialpretreatment is required for histochemical staining of formalin/paraffin tissues). Positive Control: Melanoma or Schwannoma.
Other applications not tested.
Optimal dilutions are dependent on conditions and should be determined by the user.
