Description
S100 belongs to the family of calcium binding proteins such as calmodulin and troponin C. S100A is composed of an alpha and beta chain whereas S100B is composed of two betachains. Antibody to S100 stains Schwannomas, ependymomas, astrogliomas, almost allbenign and malignant melanomas and their metastases. S100 protein is also expressed inthe antigen presenting cells such as the Langerhans cells in skin and interdigitatingreticulum cells in the paracortex of lymph nodes.

Specificity
This antibody is reactive with S100A and S100B. Cellular Localization: Cytoplasmic. Species: Human, Cow, Kangaroo, Mouse, Rat, and Chicken. Others not tested.
Application Notes
ImmunocytochemistryImmunohistology (Formalin/paraffin: use Ab at 1: 100-1: 200 for 30 min at RT, no specialpretreatment is required for histochemical staining of formalin/paraffin tissues). Positive Control: Melanoma or Schwannoma. Other applications not tested. Optimal dilutions are dependent on conditions and should be determined by the user.
